Our Big 4 Swan Hill Review. How did it stack up?

We’ve stayed at Big 4 Swan Hill two years in a row on our annual Mundi Mundi Bash holiday. For us, Big 4 Swan Hill offers a great midway break on our leg from Albury to Broken Hill. It’s a great space to stop, unpack necessities, grab a great feed, wash clothing, and let the kids run wild on all the kids’ activities within the park – everyone wins.

Where Is Big 4 Swan Hill

The park’s conveniently located at 186 Murray Valley Highway, Swan Hill VIC 3585, just a short distance from the town centre. It’s easy to find and just a stone’s throw away from the great Murray River.

Accommodation Options

Big 4 Swan Hill offers a variety of cabins for a comfortable stay, perfect for couples, families, and groups of friends.

They also offer pet-friendly accommodation (at the discretion of park management). We had two of our dogs travel with us this year, so we booked a dog-friendly cabin. To our pleasant surprise, our accommodation was not only dog-friendly inside, but also offered a small, secure, privately fenced-off yard for the dogs. If you’ve ever travelled long distances with your dog, you’ll appreciate the peace of mind and freedom of being about to get out and about, knowing your puppo is safe, in a grassy, fenced yard.

Last year we stayed in the Big 4 Swan Hill Deluxe Cabin. It had everything we needed; air conditioning, TV’s, full kitchen, and a private balcony complete with a Weber BBQ. Best part for us was that the Deluxe Cabin overlooked one of the playgrounds and pool, so the kids could play while Lee and I soaked up the peace on our deck.

Caravan and Camping Sites

For our camping peeps (which, let’s face it, is 99.9% of you legends), Big 4 Swan Hill has ample well-maintained caravan and camping sites – powered, unpowered, and ones with ensuites. For those using the amenities block, I can confirm the toilets are clean, and the laundry is full of washing machines and dryers (so you won’t be left waiting hours to use a machine).

Facility Details

We travel with six kids (6-15) and two dogs. Two of our kids have Autism, so travelling can often bring about extra challenges. Big 4 Swan Hill is an inclusive park, with a dedicated sensory area, and they always make us feel welcome. We find that all our kids have a ball when we stay there, because there’s so many activities to please all ages and interests. Here’s just some of the facilities we’ve used or checked out while staying there:

  • The barn
  • Camp kitchen and BBQ’s
  • Laundry
  • Pool
  • Games room
  • Playgrounds
  • Jumping pillow
  • Splash park
  • Pedal go-carts and race track
  • 18-hole mini golf
  • Outdoor movies

Our Two Cents on Big 4 Swan Hill

As a family, we’ve really enjoyed our two visits to Big 4 Swan Hill. The park is clean and well-kept, and the team are friendly and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back – perhaps next time we’ll snag a campsite over the Christmas school holiday season, so the kiddos can enjoy some of the school holiday activities the park puts on.

G’day, I’m Stacey, CAW4D wifey, author of all our CA4WD blogs, and builder of all things website-ey. When I’m not writing about our family’s camping adventures, you’ll find me kicking around on social media with the incredible camping and 4wd community we’ve built.

Ohhh, and sometimes, you may find me doing ‘actual work’…which, ironically, is very similar to what I do ’round these parts – marketing. You can find more of my pen-pedalling atrocities here.

In the meantime, kick back, grab a coldie, and check out some more cool camping content I’ve put together for you here. Cheers.
